Do you live in the middle of nowhere and want to know what to do to stay connected with the world around you? Are you starting to feel sick and tired of not knowing the latest in celebrity gossip or because you missed the super bowl? Do you want to find a way to bring your family together in the living room? If you answered yes to any of these questions than satellite television is the answer for you.

While many people worry that our nation has become obsessed with watching endless hours of useless television satellite television puts a stop to all of this nonsense. By having satellite you can rewind and fast-forward to programs that you want to watch. No more watching reruns of silly programs just because your waiting for that certain show to come on. With satellite television all you have to do is simply record your program and you can watch the show at your own liberty. This way you don’t have to waste your life away in front of the television but rather watch exciting programs that you want to watch.

Another fear people often have about satellite television is making sure that their children don’t watch inappropriate television or are exposed to violence and other negative influences. With satellite television you can block certain stations that you know are a bad influence on your child’s education and health. Be sure to look into what sorts of programs are appropriate for your child’s education and make sure that the fun shows that they watch have a positive role model. With these factors in mind television will help nurture the educational growth of your child.

Are you a big sports fan? There is no better network for a sports fan than that of satellite television. With NFL Sunday Ticket you will not miss the details of any game. If your family needs you to help with something around the house you no longer have to worry about missing that big play. Simply push pause and return to the game at your own convenience. This way everyone is happy and you can control when you watch the game and not vice versa.

Do you live in the middle of nowhere and are not sure what to do in the way of television providers? The great thing about satellite television is that you can get it almost anywhere. This is what places satellite television a step above the other providers. When you live in the country it is important to have a television so that you can stay connected with the events of the city. Often times mail and news may take a while to reach smaller areas but with television you can know exactly what’s going on in the world right from your living room.

FTA keys are really just a set of numbers.

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

This is a very broad and simplistic overview of what FTA Keys are and why they are so popular. A more ‘tech’ style article will be published soon for those who want to understand the frequencies, code structures, K band limitations and other aspects of Free to Air TV.

FTA, the abbreviation for “Free to Air”, simply refers to the receiving of satellite signals via a satellite dish, and decoding them to be displayed as picture (Television) on your TV. To view “Free to Air” signals, you must input a set of keys into your receiver in order to descramble the signals properly.

FTA Keys simply remove the barriers that normally prevent non-subscribers from receiving the Free to Air signals sent out from certain satellites. The keys give the holder of those keys the freedom to access multiple satellite signals. The keys are inputted into an FTA Receiver that usually sits on or under a TV much like a DVD layer.

A typical satellite dish can pick up signals from only one or two satellites. An FTA receiver is a special kind of dish/receiver combo that has been programmed to pick up free to air signals. The owner must input the keys to ‘unlock’ or descramble the signals. Once unlocked, the FTA receiver has the ability to pick-up the many signals that float freely in the air.

How do you enter the keys into the receiver? FTA keys are really just a set of numbers. They can be entered manually or through files, called FTA Bin Files. They can also be entered via a computer that is attached to the receiver via USB. There are so many different types of FTA receivers that explaining every operation would take pages – the best way to find out is to simply go to a Free to Air webpage and look one that supports your model. Once a receiver gets those numbers, it can pick-up and decode the many signals in the air. FTA Keys unlock the proper program on the receiver, much the same way that a password can unlock a computer program. The programmed receiver responds to the “code word”, the numbers contained in the key.

For those who want to enjoy the programming on FTA Satellite TV, but who do not want to pay for Satellite TV, the choice to access FTA keys is more and more being viewed as an economical alternative. There are now several different companies that charge for the service of providing updated FTA Keys for your receiver, as well as full setup support and FAQ’s for your particular receiver. Because the cost for these services are much less than the amount of money that would otherwise go to the Satellite Company, many TV viewers now pay for this service. It is important to mention that Free To Air TV is perfectly legal.

One can find many FTA Key companies online. Because of high competition, rates are low and usually include full support options. Find a company that offers all the latest FTA Keys AND offers free support for your receiver setup. Customers searching for a way to get keys should look for a company that has constantly updated keys. Keys are constantly changing, and only a handful of companies online get updated FTA Keys (and pass them to their customers) in an immediate fashion.

BEV dropping standard definition satellite receivers

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Canada’s largest direct-to-home satellite broadcaster, BEV has informed its dealers that it will no longer sell or rent its 3150 and 5900 standard definition (SD) satellite receivers.

In an update sent to dealers last month, the company says that once the current inventory of 3150 and 5900 satellite receivers is gone, BEV will replace these models with high definition (HD) satellite receivers.

In place of the 3150 standard definition receiver, BEV will be offering the 6131 high definition receiver while in place of its 5900 standard definition personal video recorder (PVR), Bell will offer the 9241 High HD PVR.

Dealers tell Digital Home that BEV’s standard definition model 4100 is still being sold, however, they expect that may change in 2010 as stocks are drawn down and the percentage of households with high definition televisions increases.

The move to selling only HD receivers make sound economic sense. By going all HD, it means fewer models for BEV to have to support and it ensures the newest satellite receivers offered by the company will feature MPEG-4 capability, the ability to add an external hard disk drive and HDMI connectivity.

MPEG-4 is an advanced audio video compression scheme that will allow Bell TV to deliver bandwidth hogging high definition signals more efficiently. The transition to MPEG-4 by BEV has not been confirmed and is not expected for several years but MPEG-4 capability now means the receiver will be able to handle new future signal transport systems.

The ability to add an external hard drive means the 6141 HD receiver can be turned into a PVR while the 9241 HD PVR can have greatly expanded storage.

HDMI connectivity means all of BEV TV’s receivers will be able to deliver a digital audio and video signal to all HD televisions now on the market.

Since the newer HD receivers can also decode and deliver standard definition signals to existing televisions, the move will mean that customers buying or renting these receivers will be able to use them to view both standard and high definition channels and connect to both analog and digital televisions for years to come.

Nagravision 3 Fequently Asked Questions and Answeres

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Is Nagravision 3 hacked?

YES, but not fully. Some boxes are able to view some channels encrypted using Nagravision 3 through a technique called “card sharing” whereby the encryption status of an existing paid subscriber card is disseminated to other receivers through the use of a networked connection. Many hackers in the underground FTA testing community are working hard to further crack this security implementation as they have done in the recent past with Nagravision 2. Current underground projects are limited to channels which can be subscribed to. Channels that are not available for subscription such as Special Events and Pay-Per-View programming have so far remained unavailable.
Claims have recently been made that Nagravision 3 is hacked in Europe, where it has been in use for some time. These claims have so far not been proven to work or have any chance of working in North America. Several boxes now proven capable of using some variant of the card sharing method include, the Nfusion, Dreambox and now the Neosat IPro 2000.

Is Bell ExpressVU using Nagravision 3?

YES. Undergound hackers for the most part are no longer able to view Bell ExpressVU programming, with the exceptions of hackers using IKS, which only gains access to subscription based programming. Only 1 manufactured FTA receiver is so far able to make use of this new technology to circumvent Nagravision 3 on the Bell ExpressVU provider network.

Is Dish Network using Nagravision 3?

YES. All subscribers to Dish Network have been informed that they will need to upgrade their conditional access cards with new purple Nagravision 3 version cards. Dish Network as of Decemeber 17th have begun testing Nagravision 3 on some channels and are expected to migrate completely to Nagravision 3 in the very near furture.

When will Dish Network begin using Nagravision 3?

On December 17th, 2008 it was noted by many in the underground testing community that several channels had been at least temporarily switched over to Nagravision 3 encryption. This no doubt signals that EchosStar is getting ready to begin the implementation of Nagravision 3 on Dish Network channels. It is likely that international, sports, pay-per-view and special event programming content will be the first to begin making use of Nagravision 3 to prevent any mishaps with regular subscribed content. Once the transition is successful, other channels will quickly migrate to Nagravision 3. Cahrlie Egren, the founder of Echostar stated in a conference call in December 2008 that he expected N3 to be active on International and HD programming within the first quarter of 2009, but did not expect a complete switchover to Nagravision 3 on all Dish Network channels until the end of the third quarter in 2009.

Will my FTA receiver be able to get Nagarvision 3 channels?

Maybe.
If you are using a legit box that includes native support for Nagravision 3 conditional access modules, and you pay for a subscription, you should be able to contine using your current receiver.
However, if you are using a FTA satellite receiver to “steal” Nagravision 3 programming content, you may definitely be impacted. Initially, it appears that only boxes capable of an Internet connectivity using IKS software will be able to use a variant the current technique adopted for Nfusionfor receiveers. While many claims have been made from various set top box manufacturers, the final word has not even begun to be written as it pertains to older boxes and Nagravision 3.Some STB manufacturers have actually announce that add-on hardware will be made available to some boxes, making them capable of updates over the net, which would give them the ability to use IKS. If you are considering the purchase of a box right now, many suggest waiting to see what happens over the next few months, or you may be wasting your money.

How long will we have to wait for a Nagravision 3 fix?

No one knows how long it will take before the masses are able to break the Nagravision 3 code, or if it will ever be fully hacked. We will monitor developments and announce any new findings here. In the meantime, record a good number of movies and shows in advance, because it may be a long time before you will be able to watch pirated satellite signals.

What is Nagravision 3?

What is Nagravision 3?

Nagravision 3 is a version of Satellite Encryption technology introcued by the Kudelski Group in its latest attempt to block the underground community using modified hardware and software to descramble media content offered by various content providers.

Recently, popular satellite television provider Echostar Communications launched Nagravision 3 encryption on its Canadian B3v service offering. The new security measure required the replacement of prevision Nagravision 2 based conditional access modules (CAMs) on all subscriber equipment in order to dicipher paid satellite programming. EchoStar also plans to deploy Nagravision3 technology among its U.S. Based DN subscriber network in the last quarter of 2008 with full implementation to begin in the first quarter of 2009.

Shortly after the Nagravision 2, it did not take members of the hacking community long to work around the newer encryption technology. Soon just about every model of modified receiever and card programmer were able to circumvent the outdated technology and were again wathcing unencrypted programming without paying for it, which is illegal in most jurisdictions.

While Nagravision 3 has been existent and relatively unchallenged in other markets, the recent migration to Nagravion 3 on the B3v system has resulted in an increased effort to cirumvent the new technology. Former B3v recipients using illegal equipment either switched over to receive DN programming or began using a box from the manufacturer Nfusion. This Nfusion box to date remains the only modified Free-to-air satellite receiver to receive scrambled Nagravision 3 B3v media content.

Through a process of placing an emulated image of the new card and its decryption ability of an actual paying subscriber, the decryption keys are disseminated to other systems through an internet connection to the server. While this method allows for the viewing of some pay tv content, it does not provide for the viewing of extra paid services such as special event and pay-per-view programming.

The future of Nagravision 3 encryption technology is uncertain. Many in the underground community have made claims that the new technology has already been cracked and that when DN takes the plunge and implements the technology, a worldwide release of a fix will be released. Nagravion3.org maintains a constant involvement with these underground communities and will be moniotoring any advances made in the hacking of the technology and will inform you of such activity here.

Whenever considering the implementation of any security measure, it is important to know about the efforts to circumvent such security in order to enable you to make additional considerations in an effort to protect your paid content. Stay tuned to Nagravision 3.org for additional developments or install the FTA Toolbar to monitor all activity within the underground FTA community.

More on Nagravision: Three versions of Nagravision are in common use for digital satellite television, known as Nagravision, Nagravision Cardmagedon, and Nagravision Aladin. Nagravision Cardmagedon and Aladin are often confused with each other. Nagravision Cardmagedon is however, a complicated combination of Nagravision Aladin and Mediaguard SECA 2 encryption. The decryption unit is either integrated into a receiver, available as a conditional access module (CAM), or as one of many encryption schemes supported on a CAM emulator. Nagravision has been adopted all over the world as a conditional access system, with providers like Virgin Media in the UK and Dream Satellite TV Philippines (on Nagravision 1), Polsat of Poland, Digital+ Spain (now on Nagravision 3), TV Cabo Portugal, Premiere Germany, Digi TV Romania, Bell TV and Look Communications Canada and DN USA (On Nagravision A). Digital+ and Top Up TV are the only providers using Nagravision Cardmagedon (and also Nagravision Aladin) after its adoption in March 2005 and 2008 respectively. The original Nagravision 1 is now almost obsolete after it was originally compromised in 1999, although Dream Satellite maintain relative security by changing keys several times throughout the day, causing great inconvenience to unauthorized viewers. The Nagravision Aladin providers have been confronting the issue of satellite signal piracy and smart card piracy, since the system was publicly compromised in summer 2005. At first, security of the system was regained, with software revisions, manipulation of the Nagravision encryption algorithm, along with the phasing out of older cards, like the ROM101, ROM102, ROM103 in USA and ROM110,ROM120,ROM130 in Europe, in favour of the newer ROM142/ROM180. Card hackers have, however, continued to compromise the encryption system, with continued software and key releases being made available to the public. Software emulation of the Nagravision system has been implemented in many Free-To-Air Satellite receivers, allowing unauthorised viewing to those who do not own an official card.[citation needed]. As of the summer of 2008, the next version of Nagravision, nagra3, has not yet been compromised.
